Tata Docomo - idli and other ads

This ad is part of a series of ads having the same backdrop of a restaurant with a wicked and conniving owner. Here, I would talk in general about the entire series as there are quite few of them and it makes sense to have a go at them in a single go. i have already reviewed one in which Ranbir Kapoor is shown serving the patrons by a very small spoon and that too by taking his own sweet time. The series tries to expose some hard realities about the scams and fraudulent practices by mobile operators in India, saying that I must add, even Tata Docomo is not free from that. The campaign is a success overall, with high recall value with the customers and a general positive feedback. The ads are inherently funny and all the actors do a superb job. The expressions of some of the supporting actors are exactly what one feels with the slow internet speed, being cheated out of balance or promises not being delivered, frustrated and helpless. The ad series delivers the message clearly and cleverly. This ad series is a classical example of subtle humour that is rarely used in Indian ad space.
